Pure & undefiled religion before God & the Father is this: to visit orphans & widows in their affliction....James 1:27
Life in India
India is a land of many little gods, but only the ONE TRUE GOD cares for the poorest of the poor.

India's people and places vary greatly, including languages, religions, food and rituals. In Guntur, where the family lives, and the surrounding areas of Andrha Pradesh, the language is Telugu. The major religion is Hinduism; Islam is second. Christianity accounts for only 1.9% of the regional population.

According to Jacob “Almost all the children in our home have lost both parents to AIDS. Children whose parents are living with HIV  experience many negative changes in their lives and suffer neglect, including emotional neglect, long before they are orphaned.

“These little ones are deserted by relatives and by society; being left alone in this world has almost maimed them mentally. Most all of them were school dropouts. All of them were ill-fed and mal-nourished; many required medical attention as a result.
Poverty abounds. The standards of living are not just years, but centuries, behind that to which we are accustomed in the USA. Sadly this means many children have a very rough start in life.
“Children grieving for dying or dead parents are often stigmatized by society through their association with AIDS. The distress and social isolation experienced by these children, both before and after the death of their parent(s), is strongly exacerbated by the shame, fear, and rejection that often surrounds people affected by HIV. Because of this stigma, homeless children may be denied access to schooling and health care. High levels of psychological distress, anxiety, depression and anger are more common among AIDS orphans than other children.

“I have seen first-hand the desperation of these children. I have witnessed them scavenging for food, eating scraps found on waste dumps, and drinking water from sewages and waste drains. Female children are most vulnerable group; their lives are always in great danger. Many of them experience exploitation and abuse in addition to their other suffering.”
